SIXPENCE AN HOUR MORE
RAILWAYMEX'S REQUEST (P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. Over 1000 members of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants attended a meeting at the Hutt workshops at noon to consider the wages question in relation to the increased cost of living. The meeting passed a resolution wholeheartedly supporting the claims of the Auckland men for sixpence an hour increase, and demanding from the Government that when wages adjustment took place preferential treatment be given to the lower-paid men. It was officially stated on behalf of the men that largely attended meetings for the purpose of considering wages had been held daily at the Hutt workshops during the past fortnight.
