REQUEST TO MINERS
WORK ON x ITURDAYS
(0.C.) HUNTLY, Tuesday. A request by the Mining Controller that miners work next Saturdav and on December 22 and 23 to meet the shortage of railway coal has been brought before miners throughout the district.
It is expected that a vote will be 'taken at all the mines before a final | decision is reached.
Early in the year a request was made for the miners to work six days a week to cope with the extra demand for coal, taut this was reijected. The men stated that a five* |day week was quite sufficien*
