FIJI WARNINGS
HURRICANE DANGER
FLAGS AND BROADCASTING (0.C.) SUVA, November 20. Following on the disastrous hurricane of February last, the Government has issued a system of hurricane warnings, which should obviate a good deal of the damage hitherto caused by unpreparedness. There will be two warnings, preliminary and final, and these will be conveyed by means of notices posted in prominent places, by hoisting of flags and broadcasting; and the final warning will be given in addition by hoisting two square black flags, and megaphone announcements from a police car making a circuit of the town. The hurricane season is from November to March, and a preliminary warning of the expected track of a blow will enable residents to make preparations to protect their property.
