ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

TOTAL OVER £2300

The street appeal made in Auckland yesterday for the Auckland centre of the Sl John Ambulance Association, resulted in the very satisfactory response of £2319. with three small returns to come. The appeal last year realised about £2500. but yesterday's effort was particularly good in view of the unfavourable' weather. The collections included the following: — One'nunga-One Tree HillEpsom districts £122. Otahuhu £100. Takapuna £69. Birkenhead £54, waterside workers £50. Mount Albert £40. Papakura £39. Papatoetoe £39. Mount Roskill £37. Devonport £36. Northcote £31, and Ellerslie £15. The secretary-manager, Mr. S. E. Langstone. said that the association was very grateful to the public for its generous response, and to the collectors. many of whom worked in heavy rain.
