UNAUTHORISED APPEALS
The Auckland Provincial Patriotic Council has issued a warning that the practice of some organisations, in making an appeal to the public for funds to send addressed gift parcels to members of the forces overseas, is a breach of the patriotic regulations. The council, through its ten zone executives has. during the past year, forwarded overseas nearly 34,000 unaddressed gift parcels of an estimated value of £18.000 as part of the Dominion allocation dispatched quarterly, with the object of ensuring that each member of the armed forces, irrespective of his place of enlistment, receives a parcel.
