COMMERCE EXAMS.
AUCKLAND ENTRANTS The Chamber of Commerce examinations, instituted many years ago by the Wellington Chamber of Commerce to provide a hallmark of the attainments of young people seeking to enter or to obtain promotion in offices, are being extended this year to Auckland, where there are 255 candidates sitting 626 papers. The total entries for the Dominion last year were 1161. It is understood that there are over 2000 entries this year. The subjects covered by the examinations are English composition and business letter writing. shorthand, typewriting, book-keeping, office practice "and handwriting. The examinations will begin on Monday next and finish on Friday. The papers are being sat at the Auckland University College and other educational establishments in the city. Detailed organisation of the Auckland centre has been delegated by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce to a committee of its Junior Chamber division under the chairmanship of Mr. D. G. Stotter, B.Com.
