PAYMENT OF ACCOUNTS
POWER BOARD DEPOTS PLAN
A plea for the establishment of half-day weekly pay-in depots in suburban areas for the convenience of housewives desiring to pay their electricity acccpunts promptly and thus secure their discount, was made by Mr. C. J. Lovegrove, at a meeting of the Auckland Electric Power Board yesterday afternoon. Mr. Lovegrove said the need for such depots had been represented to him by a prominent resident of St. Helier's Bay, who had directed attention to the diAcuity some women were experiencing in having to travel to the city to pay their accounts, instancing particularly the case of soldiers' wives with families. There had previously been a depot at St. Helier's, and if ever there was a necessity for such a facility there was a greater need for it under present day conditions, said Mr. Lovegrove.
The chairman, Mr. S. J. Harbutt, said the great difficulty was transport and staffing. Meter readers went round to consumers and accounts could be paid at the door. The matter was referred to the general manager, Mr. R. H. Bartley, for a report-
