N.Z. SOLDIERS
IN WESTERN DESERT
HIGH COMMISSIONER'S VISIT (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, stated this afternoon that he had received a cablegram from the High Commissioner, Mr. W. J. Jordan, concerning his visit to New Zealand troops in the Western Desert.
Mr. Jordan said he had found the men in good heart and high spirits. General Sir Claude Auchinleck, Commander in Chief, Middle East, and General Alan Cunningham, had expressed their highest admiration of the New Zealand troops and their pleasure at having them in their commands. They had also expressed their complete confidence in MajorGeneral B. C. Freyberg, V.C., Commander of the New Zealand Division.
