A YACHTING MEMORIAL
A memorial to the late Mr. Archibald Logan, noted Auckland yacht designer and builder, will be unveiled at the Richmond Yacht Club to-morrow night. The memorial fund was originated by Mr. George Dennes, of Auckland, and there was a widespread reply. The memorial is a model of the Mawhiri, first boat of the M class which Mr. Logan created. A wooden model was first built, from which the model was cast in bronze. The deck was modelled out, annealed and shaped, the whole model being complete in every detail on a scale of one inch to the foot. The entire model is chromium-plated. It rests in a cradle on a base bearing an inscription and plates for engraving the names of the winners. The memorial stands on a mirror-topped chromium table and will be kept in a plate-glass case, constructed for the purpose, by the Richmond Yacht Club in its premises.
