TRAINING EXPENSES

When any eligible citizen is called up for military service he must, at some time before going into camp, leave his work for some hours and attend medical examination. The soldier-to-be is paid by the authorities for working-time lost during the examination, and for air force trainees it is very unfortunate that the same does not apply to them, especially when a much longer examination period is usually required for them. In many cases two visits are necessary, and as no monetary allowance is made, the financial loss is considerable when the trainee is paid by the hour. The trainee has apart from this loss other expenses of no mean proportions in the way of school equipment and weekly fares. These, of course, may be considered trifling, but it is surely reasonable to expect some sort of compensation for the serious loss of working time. TRAMTRAX
