SPECIAL SERVICES

CHURCHES IN AUCKLAND

Churches throughout the city and suburbs to-morrow will observe the day of prayer requested by His Majesty the King. The Mayor, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, members of the City Council, members of Parliament, representatives of local bodies and many other organisations, and representatives of the fighting forces have accepted invitations to attend a special service at St. Mary's Cathedral at 11 a.m., when Bishop Simkin will preach.

The King's Empire Veterans will hold a church parade at St. Matthew's to-morrow morning, when Canon R. G. Coats will preach. In the evening the preacher will be Archbishop Averill. In the afternoon a gathering sponsored by the Auckland Wayside Mission will be held in the Town Hall concert chamber.
