COLOURED WATER
"GIVEN TO PATIENTS"
ALLEGATION BY M.P.
<By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. I When speaking on the broadcasting Estimates in the House of Representatives yesterday, Mr. Clyde Carr (Government, Timaru), said he dTd not think that patent medicines were ;any worse than the coloured water [medical practitioners gave their | patients in some cases to encourage I them that they were netting better. This statement was immediately taken up t>y Mr. Kyle (National, Riccarton), who expressed surprise that it siiould have been made.
j "Is that what you think of the medical practitioners of this country?" asked Mr. Kyle. He said that he was afraid that the Minister in charge of the Estimates and the Minister of Health would not be in agreement with the statement that |Mr. Carr had made; a statement [which was derogatory of the B.M.A.
Mr. Broadfoot (National, Waitomo): And the chemists. I "Yes, and the cnemists, buti especially to the 8.M.A.," continued Mr. Kyle. This was particularly sol at the present time when an endeavour was being made to bring about | unity between the Government and the doctors. I Mr. Carr: Oh, but the doctors wouldj share my joke. ' Mr. Kyle said he could conceive ofj the possibility of Mr. Carr apologis-] ing to the B.M.A. just as he had to the soldiers. Mr. Carr: The honourable gentleman has no appreciation of humour. Tickle your funny-bone. Mr. Broadfoot: With a totem pole!
