POVERTY BAY T.C.
TO RACE AT TE AROHA
(0.C.) GISBORNE, this day. Reference t'o the arrangement under which the Poverty Bay Turf Club will •hold meetings on the Te Aroha Jockey Club's course during the next two or three seasons, is made in the annual report of the Poverty Bay Turf Club, which states that negotiations for the disposal of two racing days were brought to completion and an agreement entered into with the Te Aroha Jockey Club.
The terms of the agreement provide that a nvo-day race meeting be conducted in Te Aroha each year in the name o£ the Poverty Bay Turf Club until such time as the total consideration of money has been paid. When payment is completed two days are to be transferred permanently to the Te Aroha Club.
"Whilst the loss to the district of these two days is a matter for regret it is quite obvious, from our financial position, that if the arrangement had not been made it would have been extremely difficult for the club to carry on with its race meetinps in Gisborne during 1041-42." The first meeting in Te Aroha nnder the agreement is fixed for September 20 and 22. On the year's working the club 6howed a loss of £775, of which £625 is accounted for by depreciation. ,
