NO-CLAIM BONUSES
STATE INSURANCE OFFICE.
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Minister in charge of the State Fire Insurance Department, the Hon. D. Wilson, announced to-day that as an encouragement towards safe driving the Government had decided to authorise the State Fire and Accident Insurance Office to institute a system of no-claim bonuses on the renewal of present insurances.
The Minister said two wartime emergency measures restricting petrol and lighting tended to have opposite effects in accident risks on motor vehicles, but a reduction of premiums in certain cases in provision for percentage bonuses off ordinary premiums on all policies falling due on and after to-day should be an incentive to drivers to exercise the greatest care under the present conditions.
