SATURDAY'S WEDDING
Exquisite Model
Gown of Satin
NAPIER—RAMAGE
An attractive wedding took place at St. Barnabas' Church, Mount Eden, on Saturday evening, when Miss Nell Gwendoline Ramage, youngest daughter of Mrs. John Ross Ramage, and the late Mr. Ramage. of Mason's Avenue, Heme Bay, was married to Mr. Nelson Alexander Napier, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Napier, of Oamaru. The Rev. G. R. Monteith performed the ceremony and Mr. Trevor Sparling was the organist. Mr. Lambert Harvey sang a solo, "Where'er You Walk."
An exquisite model frnck of magnolia satin was worn by the bride, who was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr. Howey Walker. It was made with inset yoke and panels of appliqued fleur-de-lis, and was buttoned to the waist at the back. The train fell from an inset panel and was embroidered with similar scrolls of fleur-de-lis. The three-quarter length veil fell from a high coronet of tiny orange blossoms, and the bride carried a sheaf of deep cream cymbidium orchids and hyacinths. In attendance as matron of honour was Mrs. Robert Ramage, of Sydney, sister-in-law of the bride, who wore a slim-fitting Grecian gown of smoky blue. The neckline and sleeves were piped with gold and the belt formed scrolls of gold kid. On her hair was a twisted turban of matching material, and she carried a bouquet of cyclamen toning from mauve to deep prune.
A charming frock of peach chifTon was worn by the bridesmaid, Miss Valerie Cooper. The skirt fell in graceful lines from a shirred bodice with a heart-shaped neckline. She wore a coronet of hyacinths and carried a colonial bouquet of peach and blue hyacinths.
The best man was Mr. Gerald Lee, while Mr. W. Birnie was groomsman. The ushers were Messrs. Albert McKeown, Lewis Maitland Walker and Robert Kerr.
A reception was later held at Wharekoa, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howey Walker, View Road. Mount Eden, where Mrs. Ramape received her guests in a black georgette dress embossed with silver thread, and cape t,rimmed with Russian fox. She wore a corsage of pink tulips and blue hyacinths. Mrs. Napier was in a black and white ensemble, squirrel cape and matching hat. Her corsage was of pink carnations. The bride's sister, Mrs. Howey Walker, chose a gown of beige Chantilly lace, with a black jacket and ermine furs.
