BOY RESCUED

FALL INTO HARBOUR

CAPTAIN'S PROMPT ACTION

The prompt action taken by the master of the ferry steamer Albatross, Captain T. Lynch, was described to-day by a passenger as being responsible for the rescue of a boy from possible drowning yesterday afternoon. The boy, whose age is about 13, was fishing from the Northcote wharf when he fell into the harbour. Bystanders threw him a lifebuoy, which he managed to catch, but the strong ebb tide was carrying him round the point.

Captain Lynch, who had taken on passengers at Northcote for the city, edged the vessel over to shelter tlie boy from the wind. The lad drifted toward the ferry boat and several passengers assisted him on to the lower deck. He was given dry clothes and was taken into * the engine room. Although he had been in the water for about 15 minutes the lad was none the worse for his experience.
