Three Races For Frosbites

j The Tamaki Yacht Club held three races for boats of the Frostbite sailing dinghv class this I afternoon in a fresh breeze varying from southeast. to south-west. Fourteen boats competed. This class is increasing in popularity in the eastern suburbs, and now numbers over 30 boots, while the Wakatere Club has about 75 of the class including some in the DevoAport Club. The first race started at 3 p.m.. the first leg bring from off the clubhouse round Resolution buoy, off Parnell. thence to Sandspit beacon and hack to the starting line. From a sood start Jennifer, White Wings. Faran and Eddie were off with the gun. Tiki and Eclipse being over 3m late. On the run up harbour Jennifer drew ; ahead, rounding the mark 40s clear of White ] Wings, which headed Faran 30s. It was a lead on starboard to Sandspit. Jennifer slowly lmi proving her lead. On the beat from sandspit to the finish there was little change except that White Wings lost by having to make two extra I boards to fetch the line, but Jennifer laid right through. I The finish was: Jennifer 51m 21s. White Wings 52m 40s. Eddie 55m 235, Eclipse 56m 58s. Faran , SBm 9s, No. 83 58m 13s, Tiki 58m 335. Lorna lh ,7m 40s. Result: Jennifer (Im 30s). S. The second race, sailed jver a course from i the clubhouse round Bean F ock, round beacon ofT | Kohi wharf and back, started at 3.30 p.m.. all 1 getting away with the gun except Ideal. Solace, a I new boat Kia Toa and Kanapu round Bean Rock by a length, but Kanapu passed her on the beat to Kohi, and the finish was: Kanapu 51m 17s. Solace 51m 455, Anewanewa 52m 295. Kia Toa 52m 355. Aotea 53m 555, Ideal 55m 2s. Result: Kanapu (2m), E. Lock, 1; Solace (scr), S. Mason 2- Ideal (3m). 3. The third race was sailed over a course from the clubhouse to the Kohi wharf mark and return starting at 4.30 p.m. The finish was: Tiki 26m 19s' White Wings 26m 38s. Jennifer 26m 465.
