Algerian Is To Have Australian Campaign

(Special.) _ WANGAXTJI, Thursday. Algerian ifl on ihis way to Melbourne, and is to be taken on to Sydney for the A.J.C. meeting, lat'er returning to Melbourne for the Caulfield and Melbourne Oupe. Since his return from Riccarton the Beau Pere galloper has gone on the right way, and he should be at the peak of his form for his engagements at Randwick. It m understood that W. H. Dwyer will leave at an early date to supervise the gelding's final preparation. Just how good Algerian is remains to be seen, but with any luck at all 'he should win a race or two on the other side.

Baron Bold, with J. Toki in tihe saddle, was schooled over six liurdles yesteiday and jumped splendidly. He is engaged in the hack hurdles and the gentlemen riders' ra<;e at the Wanganui meeting at Awapuni nest week, and if he begins right must .'be hard to beat in whichever event he starts.

The course proper was open for fast work this morning, the going being a trifle on the sort side. Ami7o (Miss R. Jackson) sprinted half a mile, which he left behind in 535. The Beau Perc gelding ia not engaged at Awapuni next week, but will probably be seen out at the Avondale meeting. Dynasty (W. Rayner) was sent six furlongs by himself, cutting out the distance in 1.18, the first half in 51 1-%. The Posterity gelding has not had a race since May, bur he is in good shape and will not want for friends 111 the Marangai Handicap at Awapuni next week. Pekoe came back from Riccarton in great heart. He was given a run over half * mile this morning, registering 39V4s for t c "***. three furlongs. His win in the Jumpers Flat at the National meeting entitles aim to eolid support for the Marangai Handicap at Awapuni, as he is nicely.-wwghted with only 7.0.
