Kindergarten Due To Race at Randwick This Afternoon

New Zealand champion, and rated as one of the best colts ever to be sent across the Tasman, Kindergarten will make his first public appearance in Australia this atternoon, when lie will contest the Warwick Stakes at Raiul.vick. With eleven wins on end Kindergarten has done everything a champion could be expected to do. and, seeing that he has been icuponsible for record-breaking gallops over sprint distances, there is every reason to expect gjhe son of Kincat dine to open his campaign with a victory. At least we in Xew Zealand expect, and hope such will prove to bo the ease, but strangely enough, despite Kindergarten's great gallops, there are among the experts in Sydney those, who are far from convinced the Xew Zcalander is a good thing for to-day's race. As a matter of fact, they are inclined to favour the prowpecUs of High Caste, also a Xew Zcalander, but Australian-owned, and indeed a great galloper, particularly up to a mile and a quarter. One racing expert in Sydney last night went so far as to nay that despite Kindergarten's eleven successes on end he had to be "'taken on trust," and his vote for the Warwick Stakes was given to High Caste. The distance of th? race, seven furlong, will suit High Caste down to the ground, but it will not be against" Kindergarten, who can both sprint and stay. Cnforturiately, Beau Vite, another Xew Zealander, is not to fulfil his engagement, but there is at least one other in the race who can be depended upon to offer strong opposition. This is Lucrative, considered the best stayer in Australia. Amiable and Dashing Cavalier are two other smart gallopers in the race.

The result of to-day's race may bring about' a big change in the market 011 the two Cups. Kindergarten is a pxonounced favourite for the Caulfield Cup, in which race he is rather well treated with 9.4. Lucrative is the favourite for the Melbourne Cup, and though the distances of the Cup events are considerably more than the Warwick Stakes, the result of the latter event is bound to have an effect on the market concerning the big double. The Warwick Stakes is to st'art at 5.50, New Zealand time.
