He is building a house in the east and reading plays for another Broadway season. ♦ ♦ ♦ * TJRI AN Aherne was a trifle unwilling to plav leading man to Jeanette Mac Donald in "Smilin' Through." Nothing against Jeanette —but he dislikes musicals. However, the £17,000 paid for his services reconciled him to it. Jeanette wears a W.A.C. 1916 war uniform during most of the film. * ♦ * ♦ XANCY Carroll is in town with her 15-year-old daughter. Nancy is hoping to get a picture job.
