VI CKLA.VD RETURN'S There was a considerable increase in the number of births, and a slight increase in the number of deaths in Auckland during August, as compared with the same month of last year. There were 386 births, being 39 more than in August, 1940. Deaths numbered 251, an increase of seven over the corresponding month of 1940. Marriage notices in August a year ago totalled 279, and 65 mar- j riages were conducted by the registrar. This year the month's totals j were 249 and 75.
