LAKE TAUPO DAM
WORK XEARS COMPLETION It is anticipated that the conservation of the Lake Taupo waters, as a result of the completion of the new dam across the outlet of the lake and the likelihood of the gatecontrol gear being installed by the end of this month, will start early in September. The scheme, under which the water from the lake to feed the turbines at Arapuni will be governed, was begun over a year ago, and involves the diversion of the course of the Waikato River immediately below the outlet. The dam is built to raise the lev&t of the lake sft, thus ensuring a uniform flow of water all the year round, and ' keeping the power -units working at fulLpressure. ufc—in
