THE "RATION" SUIT

NEW DESIGN IN BRITAIN Rec. 1 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 15. Before long men wearing civilian clothes may resemble figures from ancient family albums, says - the Daily Mail. A design for a standard cloth-saving suit has been issued to the tailoring trade. If the trade approves the uovernment will be asked to foster the design. The suit is designed to reduce linings, buttons and material to a minimum and reduce labour 10 per cent. There is no waistcoat, and trousers have no cuffs and are self-supporting. They are narrower at the cuffs and have less room at the knee.

The coat is single-breasted, has four buttons and "does up" high to the neck, thus giving more warmth and concealing the absence of a waistcoaL
