OVERTIME DISPUTE

WALLSEND MINE IDLE CONCILIATION REFUSED (P.A.) GREYMOUTH. Friday. The Wallsend mine was idle to-day following a dispute over the interpretation of an overtime clause in the agreement. The men held a stopwork meeting at the mine mouth this morning. The manager, Mr. F. Lockington. asked the men to go to work and to refer the matter to the disputes committee, but the men demanded an immediate settlement.

The manager adhered to his re quest, and the men thereupon dc cided to return home.
