' ' ■-.&* ; Mrs. Wootton was born in 1851 at Bamber Bridge, Lancashire, aid ■was educated at the National and £1 Peter's Schools. prestori.~ln lgf. r . she left England with her mote and sisters in the sailing ship Rnvai Dane, and arrived at Auckland after , a voyage of five months to join her brothers. In 1872. at Bombay, she was married to the late Mr. Charles Wootton formerly of Wiltshire, who had tmto Auckland in the well known si ing ship Bombay, which arrived is Auckland in 1865 after a hazardous voyage. Mr. Wootton was one of the first settlers in the district, which ; was named after the ship.
