MIXED RESPONSE BY N.Z. GOLF CLUBS TO CARD SYSTEM

Among? the matters to be considered at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Golf Association on October 15 is the question of the general adoption of the membership card system. This scheme, which was recently adopted in Wellington and Christchurch, has proved an instantaneous success, and delegates from centres where it has not yet been tried will doubtless be interested to hear how it is working. So far, however, there is little indication that clubs generally throughout the country are particularly interested in it. Of the 350 affiliated clubs to which it was recommended by the council, only 10:5 replied asking for the cards. The council, incidentally, undertook to supply the cards at a cost of one shilling per 100. Some of the clubs which did ask for cards, however, apparently , wanted to make a proper job of it and. for fewer than 100 members, I sought anything up to 1000 cards.
