GUN CLUB SHOOT

The North Island trap shooting championships commenced at the Auckland Qun Club yesterday and were continued to-day. Owing to war conditions there was a noticeable absence of the .'younger shooters, many of w,hom are overseas. Of these two in particular have distinguished themselves. Flight-Lieutenant Billy Wells (Auckland and Cambridge Clubs) has recently figured in the news with the New Zealand fighter squadron, and Flying Officer R. G. Lindsay. In the Canadian training school, has equalled the Canadian record in clay bird shooting. Generally there were good fields and the standard of shooting was very high. The North Island 21-yard trap shooting championship was won by W. J. Turner (Auckland) with a possible. Chaa. Seddon (Hamilton), who has had more than one New Zealand championship in bis belt, was second. D. P. North (Auckland) was third, and the veteran Murray Pratt (Otorohanga) fourth. The 28-yard trap shooting championship was won outright by Seddon. E. Monteitji (Auckland) being second, with D. P. North (Auckland) third and Tom Elliott (Auckland) fourth.
