DOCTOR PROBLEM
VACANCY AT RUNANGA
MINISTER OPTIMISTIC
(By Teletraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.)
WELLINGTON, this day
A hint that the Runanga doctor problem was likely to be solved before the time limit set by the miners expired, was contained in a short statement made by the Minister of Health, Mr. Nordmeyer, this morning.
The Minister said that negotiations were progressing very satisfactorily, and he was confident that by the time the present doctor's resignation came into effect another doctor would be available. He was confident that the possibility of any trouble in the mines would be avoided.
Members of the Runanga District Medical Society discussed the position last Sunday when the general trend of their remarks was that if there was no doctor in Runanga next Wednesday, when the present doctor's notice expired, there would be no work in the mines.
