FIRST CONFERENCE
WOMEN TEACHERS
MAORI SUNDAY SCHOOLS
For the first conference of its kind ever held in Auckland, Anglican Maori Sunday school teachers from as far north as Doubtless Bay arrived in the city last evening. The discussions opened in the library at Bishopscourt this morning and will conclude during the week-end. While in the city the teachers are the guests of Bishop Simkin and Mrs. Simkin at Selwyn Court.
Some of the arrivals last evening were having their first look at Auckland. All were women, the majority having been engaged in Sunday school work in their village communities for a number of years. Those who had travelled the greatest distances were from Anipara and Whatuwhiwhi.
During the conference addresses will be given by Dean Fancourt, Miss M. Brereton, Maori missionary at Kaikobe, Miss A. G. Baker, Anglican Sunday school organiser, and Sister Erima. Demonstrations of Sunday school work will be given at the Queen Victoria School for Maori girls. Besides the discussions the conference will include special services.
