FRED ATKINS DOESN'T "PULL HIS PUNCHES"
AVI icii Fred Atkins, the 175 stone Australian wrestler, was nick named "Wildman Atkins" lie was well labelled. Fred neither "pulls his punches'' nor tries to restrict liis "mcanie" activities in the ring to the limits of spectacular entertainment. Those who meet him there know that full well. Take .Toe Corbett. for instance. .Toe met Atkins at the Auckland Town Hall last Saturday night, and he is still suffering as a result. Fred was a more than capable boxer a few years au'o, with a record of "K.O.'s" to his credit. With opportunity he might have gone far in the sport. He chose professional wrestling, however, and to his jolts he gives all the power that implemented his punches. When Corbett took a loft and a right in rapid succession in the sixth round last Saturday he knew nothing further until some minutes afterwards. He got one of them on the mouth and one on the jaw. His upper lip was split to such an extent that he had to get two stitches in it. On Monday Atkins met Pat Median, and though lie lost on a disqualification lie made it willing all the way—and both were well bruised. On Monday next at the Auckland Town Hall Atkins again meets the big Canadian, and there is little doubt that .Atkins will again demonstrate his light to a "Wildman"' title. Pat. however. is equally powerful, and he .lias shown ill the past that he knows how to deal with the toughest of them.
