Manukau Beats City at Close of Hard, Open Game: Newton Shades Mt. Albert: Wins for Richmond and Nortli Shore

On heavy grounds the Auckland Rugby League's senior championship was continued at Carlaw Park this afternoon. In the main match of the day Manukau, after hard and even play, beat City by 7 points to 2. Newton, as the result of a late run, beat Mt. Albert by 10 points to 8. North Shore had an easy win over Marist by 23 points to 3, and Richmond had an easy win from Papakura by 46 points to 8. As a result of the day's play Manukau and Richmond, each with 18 points, are leva! in the lead, with North Shore in next position, one point behind. There was surprise when Mr. J. O'Shannessey went out to referee the match between Manukau and ' City, as the official appointed was Mr. O. Chalmers.
