NO TOUR SOUTH FOR AUCKLAND LEAGUE PLAYERS

» Owing to war conditions and the fact of many prominent pliyers being unalile to obtain leave, the Auckland Rugby League last night decided that an invitation to send a representative team on tour to the South Island could not. be accepted. The chairman. Mr. G. (!rvy Campbell, said tentative arrangements had already been made, but it was found that at least six players hold important positions in variouH war industries, and. unions the- beet combination was available, the trip wa« not advisable. Mr. Campbell added that a letter of appreciation would be sent to the West Coast League, which was responsible for the first invitation.
