U-boats arc now making for more remote bases on the French Atlantic coast, reports the "Daily Express" Lisbon correspondent. Giant shelters 01 reinforced cot>crete are being built to protect the U-boats from air attacks when they return from Atlantic cniis?s. Many U-boats have been transferred from German ports and Cherbourg. St. Malo and Brest. These are sheltering in. if not operating from, creeks on the irregular coastline between Lorient and St. Xazaire. Bordeaux will apparently be used as the U-boats" parent base. North of Bordeaux the Germans are build* ing a huge airfield. this will be used by plahes to reinforce attacks on Atlantic/shipping.
