R.S.A. and Politicians

SATURDAY'S 'Star" of July 19, under the heading of "R.S.A. and Politics," to me seems only concerned with what shall be done under the rules and not with what the Digger has had to put up with in the way of political promises in the past. How many times have conferences been held, remits carried and forwarded, and, because of being non-political, been consigned to the waste paper basket, with no hope of having their requests acceded to? One has only to hear the old Digger in clubs and smokos. What is the topic? We came back and had to start our association. The men com-

ing back from this war will have our associations and we will see that they get a square deal, but how can it be done? Only by coming out and returning those who are definitely interested in the men's welfare. Good luck to Mr. Gardner or anyone else who will fight on these lines. We have put it off for 23 years, and many are still willing to put it off for another 23 years. Of course many of those are earning good salaries. The time is not far distant when the constitution of the R.S.A. will be altered, I have no doubt, and perhaps then, and then only, will we be listened to and notice taken Surely those who have fought for the country should have a say. DINK.
