GEORGE MEDAL FOR GUIDE

The first member of the Girl Guide movement to be awarded the George Medal by the King is Miss Gillian Turner, of Gloucestershire! She was an active Girl Guide up to the outbreak of war, when she joined the Auxiliary Fire Service. During one of the worst raids on London she was driving 150 gallons of petrol, and carried on at great risk to herself, with incendiary, bombs falling all round her.
