CUSTOMS YIELD
JULY RETURN HIGHER
SEVEN MONTHS' DECREASE
Customs revenue at Auckland last month reveals an increase of £23,926, compared with July, 1940, but the collections for the seven months ended yesterday total £1,648,035, a drop of £295,686, compared with the returns for the corresponding period last year. The returns for July, with those for the same month last year in parentheses, are:—Customs, £257,514 (£233,588); excise on beer £29 954 (£27,116); sales tax, £93,924 (£95,908)War Expenses Account, £110 868 (£19,289). For the seven months ending July, the figures were:—Customs £1,648,035 (£1,943,721); . excise on beer, £191,232 (£177,967); sales tax £662,057 (£653,538); War Expenses Account, £769,200 (£128,844).
