FIGHTING FORCES
FUND STILL GROWING The Auckland Fighting Forces Fund has now reached £65,910. Individual totals for the various groups are:—Drapery and boots (7), «i 4, 52& VS, 118 *!? and Public bodies (5). £14,483; fighting service and public service (6), £12,020; food and liquor (4), £10,279; profession, arts and crafts (3), £5091; motion picture and entertainment (2), £4780; building trades (1), £4674. Many subscriptions have been received by the seven groups which are conducting the campaign. The principal commercial firms, and many individuals, have made large donations, and it has been suggested ' t s at ,J i ? ts of sucn contributions ;' should be published. The organis- ■ mg secretary, Mr. L. W. Swan, said to-day that the matter had been considered by both the group committees and central committee. They all agreed that assistance by donations and services had been an equally important contribution in the success of the campaign, and it would be impracticable to compile lists of contributors of goods and' services. It had, therefore, been decided not to publish lists of donations. , Mr. Swan added that the published total was the amount held in the central account, and the list of j amounts held in group and sectional' accounts indicated that the objective 1 the raising 0fJU.2.7,00©, was in sight. }
