NEW BUILDINGS
CENTRAL FIRE STATION MAY CALL TENDERS SOON "I hope we are getting near finality," declared Mr. J. J. Kingston, chairman of the Auckland Metropolitan Fire Board, this morning, when a further communication regarding the plans for the„new' central fire station buildings was received from the Government. "I presume," he said, "that in two or three months we will be able to call for tenders."
It is nearly four years since the new buildings were first decided upon. Since then, Mr. Kingston informed the board, there had been endless delays. The plans now required the approval of the Government Building Controller and the Auckland city engineer.
