RISE IN EXPORTS
RETURNS DURING MAY FIGURES FOR 11 MONTHS Exports during May totalled £6,644,000, an increase of £1,629.000 over the same month last year, according to the return of overseas trade for the month issued by the Customs Department at Wellington yesterday. Imports were £5,536,000 a decrease of £13,000. With exports for the first 11 months of the production year, which closed on June 30, at £60,453,000, there is a good prospect that the record level of £65,859,000 reached la ;t season will be at least equalled. The June value of exports has usually exceeded £5,000,000 and last year reached the abnormal figure of £9,494,000. Figures for the 11 months compared with those in the four previous seasons are:—
