The proclamation of a state of siege automatically dissolved the Nationalist Revolutionary Movement, which the Bolivian Government describes as a small party formed with the connivance of German residents in La Paz. The President, Senor Enrique Penaranda, who has taken personal control of the country's affairs is cleaning up the situation. He advocates full co-operation with the United States for the defence of the western hemisphere.
