OBITUARY
SETTLER'S DEATH MR. CUNNINGHAM ATCHISON • I One of the best known settlers in j the old Wairoa district, Mr. Cunningham Atchison, has died at Clevedon, aged 70. Born in \\ aipawa, Mr. Atchison came with his parents to settle at the family homestead Burnbrae about 60 years ago. He was a member of the Mounted Rifles in the early days and competed regularly in shooting competitions at Trentham. He was also an enthusiastic polo player at one time and represented Remuera in Savile Cup matches over 25 years ago. Chairman of the Clevedon School Committee for 42 years, he t, o ok part in the eighty-second anniversary celebrations this year. He was also a member of the Wairoa Road Board and a life member and ring steward of the Clevedon and Pukekohe A. and P. Associations. Mr. Atchison is survived by two sons and one daughter. His eldest son. Lieutenant A. Atchison, is serving overseas.
