SOUTH AUCKLANDERS CALL FOR A RETURN GAME WITH AUCKLAND
Reporting to last night's meeting of the control board of the Auckland Rugby League the secretary. Mr. I. Culpan, statc-d that South Auckland had applied for a return match. After members had referred to the splendid spirit in wliic-h last week's game with Auckland had been played it was decided to defer the request for another contest until later in the season. The keen interest in the second round of the senior championship was mentioned by the chairman, Mr. G. Grey Campbell, and on Saturday the tour leading teams will meet on the main ground a;t Carlaw Parfe. Satisfaction was expressed with the remarks of ' the Hon. V.'. E. Parry. Minister of Internal i Affairs, to a deputation in connection with school- i boys being penalised by playing In League school- i boys' competitions. Mr. Campbell said that In view of the Minister's assurances there was every reason to believe that steps would eventually te taken to permit a pupil playing in any code of sport desired. | The request of the Manukau Club that Its' senior match against Marlst be played at Waikaraka Park. Onehunga, on August 2. for the benefit of the Onehunga Patriotic Fund was held over until next week. A request from the Papakura Club for a match at Papakura later In the season was deferred until next meeting. A Marist forward. D. McLeod. ordered off gome weeks ago and who did not appear, was stood i down until he made a personal explanation to the referee's charge. Transfers approved:—R. Hardgrave. Mount Albert to Newton; L. Rowntree. City to Newton.
