He served In Greece, and was evacuated to Crete. Campbell learned his football at Hlkurangl school and in one season had the dlstlnc.ion 01 r£lnV» Rugby Union. Rugby League and Soccer pteyfr for his school. He graduated to vn»angarel Club football, and in WJ? came to Auckland to play with the Ponsonby xm. In 1939 he transferred to Chrlstchurch and represented Canterbury and South Island. His last appearance tn.Auckland was at centre three-quarter for the combined Ngaruawahla and Papakura Camp XV.. which beat the Maori Battalion representatives from Awapunl. 18—3, on April 27, 1940.
