Mr. Menzies Deplores Tone Of Debate CHALLENGES TO ENLIST Rec. 10 a.m. CANBERRA, this day. On the adjournment of the House of Representatives yesterday, the Prime Minister, Mr. Menzies, rebuked members who acted unseemly while informally discussing conscription. He deplored their challenges and counter-challenges to enlist. Such conduct was not only inconsistent with the dignity of the House but was entirely out of harmony with the feelings ol other members, as well as of the general public. Lively debates, reminiscent of the last war, occurred during the debate. Mr Menzies reminded the House that he had already said he had no intention of introducing conscription, and had no mandate fof it foi overseas service. The Labour leader, Mr. J. Curtin, yesterday reiterated that the Labour movement was irrevocably opposed to and would not accept conscription He said those who were a dv£cating it were disrupting the war effort.
