KILLED IN ACCIDENT
YOUNG HAMILTON PILOT (0.C.) HAMILTON, this day. The death occurred as the result of a flying accident of SergeantPilot Kevin D. Cox, a member of the New Zealand Fighter Squadron and pilot of a "Hamilton" Spitfire. Cabled advice of the death of her son was received by Mrs. E. A. Cox, of Hamilton East, yesterday. Sergeant-Pilot Cox, whose death is the first casualty suffered by the recently-formed New Zealand Fighter Squadron, commenced training in Levin in May, 1940, afterwards going to New Plymouth and finishing his training at Blenheim late in 1940. He arrived in England during last January, receiving advanced training in Scotland before being posted to New Zealand's squadron. Just 21, Sergeant-Pilot Cox received his education at the Marist Brothers School and spent all his life in Hamilton. One brother, B. E. F. Cox, is a member of the Royal Navy and recently was posted to a submarine.
