ALL LOVE SPARED STRAIN OF CUPS

All Love, who rivals Yavalla as the best two-year-old in Australia this season, was not nominated for the Caulfield or Melbourne Cups because her trairer, Jack Cush, thinks more of her future than of trying to win the big spring handicaps.

"C\ EX if All Lovo is one of the greatest tiliies that, ever lived— and she may lie that—l wouldn't Like to see her race over two miles as an early three-year-o!d. Its too hi? a strain." explained Cush. Cush. in fact, does not agree with the policy of running any three-vear-old in the Melbourne Cup. The young horses have onlv a light weight, he admits, but their bones and their muscles are immature, and the effort often leaves its mark on them. If Cush had had his way, Reading, who won the two Derbies for him two years ago, would not have run in the Melbourne Cup. All Love's owner, who races as Mr. "Charles Vixen," leaves the filly's programme to Cush, and although all owners are anxious to win a Melbourne Cup, especially with one of the first horses they have owned, Mr. "Vixen" is content to trust his trainer's wisdom. "If All Love can win the A.J.C Derby and the Victoria Derby that will be good enough for us," adds Cush. "If she were to run in the Melbourne Cup and be beaten, she'd probably never be any good afterwards. And even if she won the race, it might ruin her completely. I know people have said I am silly not to have spent a few pounds and enter All Love for the cups. Just entering the filly would not force us to run her in the big races," they said. "No Temptation" "But I wanted to make sure that I would not be tempted next spring, and the only way to do that was to leave her out of the nominations," declared Cush. Cush believes that All Love will develop into a stayer. She has a double cross of Carbine blood in her breeding, and if All Love justifies her trainer s hopes he says he will train her for the Sydney Cup next autumn, when she will be much stronger and more mature. Rome trainers think that even a Sydney Cup start is too severe on a three-year-old filly. Ron Cameron who prepares Tranquil Star, would not enter his filly for the last. Svdnev Cup because he feared it would affect her adversely.
