Bombed By Japs
ATTACK AT CHUNGKING Rec. 11 a.m. TOKYO, June 16. Sir Robert Craigie, British Ambassador, visited Mr. Ohashi, Vice-Foreign Minister, on Saturday to protest against the damage done to the British Embassy building during an earlier raid on Chung- , king. Sir Robert Craigie pointed out that the Embassy building was clearly identified. Without awaiting an appointment, the American Ambassador, Mr. Joseph Grew, sent the Japanese Foreign Minister, Mr. Matsuoka, an emphatic protest about the bombing of the American Embassy at Chungking. The Note was endorsed: "Urgent—for immediate attention. Mr. Grew decided personally to deliver the protest to Mr. Matsuoka to-day.
