NEWMARKET'S AMENITIES
■ ■ IJr May I be permitted to answer Inez Freeman's letter of the 14th inst re convenience and rest roomfor ladies in Newmarket? She states the Newmarket Borough Council gives the ratepayers value for their money and the rates are the lowest in Auckland, while the concrete pavements and the smooth-surfaced roads are of the finest. A few facts might let Inez Freeman know the ladies' rest room is a long way off yet Firstly, the concrete footpaths were made by scheme 13 men, also the grass lawns and the smooth roads by the same men, concreting and labouring at the pool. Sarawai Street sport': ground, drainage work. These scheme 13 men still keep the roads in order, also the grass lawns and the footpaths. When the Government stops scheme 13 perhaps Inez Freeman will not be so pleased with her rates account and she can also see that the ladies' rest room will noi be erected as the council will noi have scheme 13 men to build it EX-SCHEME 13.
