VIOLENT STORM
THUNDER OVER HAMILTON HEAVY RAIN AND HAIL. (0.C.) HAMILTON, this day. One of the most violent electrical storms ever experienced in the Waikato broke over the country about 3.15 this morning, and continued till 3.45 a.m. Vivid flashes of lightning were accompanied by peals of thunder, the climax being reached in Hamilton shortly before 3.30. when particularly heavy crashes of thunder shook most houses in the town. There were few who slept through what seemed like a bombardment, but no damage or serious power interruptions occurred. During the storm there were many heavy falls of rain, and at one time there were large hailstones. Half an inch of rain fell during the 24 hours to 9 a.m.
