POSITION OF MINERS tßy Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The position of miners in respect of war service was referred to in a motion for a return put forward in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon bv Mr. Kidd (National. Waitaki). Mr. Kidd asked the Minister of National Service. Mr. Semple, for a return- showing the number of strikes that have taken place in State mines since the introduction of conscription: the cause of such strikes; the number of single men of military age who have been engaged by the State mines since the introduction of conscription: and the number of these men who have been called for scrvico and have been granted exemption either on their own or the management';* application.
